Description:
Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Vertebrae: 34 – 35. Body is elongated. Eyes are small, not visible from underside of head. Mouth is moderate and subinferior. Color of body is leaden grey above, silvery on flanks and abdomen.

Found in clear rivers and tanks, ponds, beels, and inundated fields.
