Description:
Colonial cells develop on branched stalks of mucilage that anchor to a substrate. Viewed from the side, the cells are wedge-shaped with an enlarged head at the opposite end of the stalk. Each cell contains a single large plastid that predominantly lies on one side of the cell but extends partially to the other side as well.
