The fish has a moderately elongate body that is flattened ventrally. Its head is pointed anteriorly, featuring a small mouth and four pairs of barbels. The dorsal spine is distinctly serrated, while the pectoral spine has 9-12 divergent serrae on its anterior edge. The body coloration is yellowish-brown above and lighter below.
