Description:
D1 VI; D2 I/8; P1 17; P2 I/5; A I/8. Color of head, body and fins dark brown; numerous dark horizontal lines on body. Body elongate and compressed; mouth oblique; maxilla extend to below middle of eye. Teeth villiform. Caudal fin rounded. Scales of body ctenoid posteriorly and cycloid anteriorly; head scaled above between and behind eye, on cheeks and opercles; snout and below eye naked.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Inhabit lagoons, estuaries and freshwater. They occur in the lower reaches of freshwater streams, usually on mud bottoms.
