Description:
Colonies of Dolichospermum planctonicum develop in clustered filaments composed of chains of multiple cells. The cells themselves are typically cylindrical or barrel-shaped. In these chains, the end cells are notably longer than the cells in the middle of the chain and may appear hyaline, resembling a glass-like appearance.
