Description:
Diaptomus is a copepod genus distinguished by its possession of a single eye spot. While it bears a resemblance in size and appearance to Cyclops, Diaptomus is characterized by notably elongated first antennae that surpass the length of its body. Furthermore, unlike Cyclops, females of Diaptomus carry their eggs in a singular sac rather than the paired sacs observed in Cyclops.
