Description:
Dero cooperi is small size pale reddish in color. It has sensory hairs on the prostomium. Dorsal setae begin from the fifth segment, with one hair and one needle per bundle. The hairs are bayonet-shaped and smaller than the body diameter, while the needles are sickle-shaped with a distal nodulus and bifid with short but equal teeth. Ventral setae start from the second segment, with 4-5 per bundle on segments II-V, being straighter, thinner, and longer, with a proximal nodulus. The branchial fossa has a flat and broad anterior margin and a convex lip at the posterior margin. There are four pairs of gills: one dorsal pair, one lateral pair, and two ventral pairs. The clitellum occupies segments V to VII. Nephridia start in the seventh segment.
