Description:
It is a relatively small worms without eyespots. The pharynx is almost spherical, and the intestinal crura merge posteriorly. The marginal hooks have a clearly marked handle and pivot. The anchors feature a well-developed inner (superficial) root, a small outer (deep) root, and a small recurved point. There is only one straight dorsal bar, with thickened lateral ends and wavy anterior and posterior edges.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
The species is specialized to its host and is an obligate parasite of the Mrigal fish, reaching sexual maturity within the fish’s gill filaments. It is distributed throughout Bangladesh.
