Description:
It is a moderate-sized ectoparasite. It has two pairs of eyespots. The intestinal crura merge behind the testis. The prostatic reservoir and seminal vesicle are not distinctly visible. Some marginal hooks have a long sausage-like handle, longer than the pivot of the handle, especially in pairs 1-4. Hooks of the 6th and 7th pairs are the shortest. The anchors are large, with a well-developed inner root, short outer root, and a stout recurved point.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
The species is host-specific and an obligate parasite of fish. It is commonly found to infest the swamp barb, Puntius sophore, in Bangladesh. It is locally distributed as a freshwater gill parasite of cyprinid fishes.
