Description:
The valves of this organism are elongated and slender, flattened with lanceolate shapes and rounded tips. They have a length-to-width ratio ranging from 4.9 in smaller specimens to 7.8 in larger ones. The upper edge is moderately curved, while the lower edge is slightly concave with a prominent central bulge. The axial area is narrow and linear, slightly wider than the raphe, and the central area is small and oval-shaped. The raphe runs along the side, becoming thread-like near the ends. At the proximal ends, the raphe bends strongly towards the lower side externally. The terminal openings of the raphe are directed upwards at an almost 90-degree angle. The striae radiate throughout the valve, becoming more pronounced near the tips. There are 10-14 areolae per 10 µm, with elongated, stigma-like areolae present at the proximal ends of the median lower striae, but otherwise, stigmata are absent.
