Description:
Asian Leaf Turtle has an oval and rounded carapace that is depressed. It is typically dark brown with fine black lines radiating, and there is a raised keel along the mid-dorsal line. The head is medium brown with darker speckles, and the neck has thick, alternating dark and light brown (sometimes reddish) stripes. The plastron is yellow, possibly patterned with fine, dark lines. As adults mature, a hinge forms across the plastron.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Cyclemys gemeli primarily resides in small rivers and streams.It is found in Sylhet,Chittagong Hill tracts, Cox’s Bazar, including Maheskhali Island, and the forests of northeast, east and Southeastern region of Bangladesh.
Environment:
Freshwater, brackish.
