Description:
The cells exhibit a yellow-brown hue and have a discoid shape with slightly convex valves. They feature a notable arrangement of large areolae forming a central rosette in a slight depression. Numerous small plate-like chloroplasts are present. Along the margin, there are spinulae spaced situated at a short distance from the edge. Between these spinulae, there are three to four rows of areolae. The radial lines from the spinulae toward the center are not clearly defined. This organism reproduces through both sexual and asexual methods.

Mainly oceanic but found in brackish or freshwater as well
