Description:
This fish has a long, flattened body from side to side (laterally compressed). Its back curves more than its belly. The mouth is on the underside of its head. It has a pair of barbels near its nose. Shiny silver scales, darker at the top and bottom edges, cover its entire body. Fin formula: D. 32-39/74-90; A. 3/75-88; P. 23.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Inhabits in rivers, streams, canals, beels and inundated fields throughout Bangladesh.
