Description:
Black Storks are large, robust birds, weighing around 3 kilograms. They stand 95 to 100 cm tall with a wingspan of 144 to 155 cm. These storks have long necks, bills, and legs, short tails, and broad wings. Their bodies are black with a sheen of green and purple on the feathers and white patches on the breast and belly. Their bill and legs are bright scarlet red, which becomes even more intense during the mating season, but turn brown in the winter months. While males are slightly larger than females, the two sexes are otherwise similar in appearance. Young Black Storks have duller plumage, but their colors become vibrant by the time they reach one year of age.
