Description:
The antennular peduncle consists of three segments. The basal segment has a sharply-pointed stylocerite extending to about two- thirds of its length, and a distal lateral tooth. The basal segment is about twice the length of the s the second article and with many plumose hairs on its anterior and lateral margins. The upper endite of the maxilla is deeply cleft, and its inner and distal margins have numerous hairs. Lower endite has marginal row of hairs. The palp is slender and is often obscured by the upper lobe of the upper endite. The scaphognathite is large and ends post- eriorly with a cluster of very long wavy setae. These long setae serve to clean debris from the branchiae.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Caridina nilotica occurs both in lentic and lotic waterbody.
