Description:
Fin formula: D. 9 (2/7); P1. 14-15; P2. 9; A 7 (2/5). Body is elongated and slender with very small mouth. It has pharyngeal teeth. Single pair of short rostral barbels are present. Scales are moderate. 41-43 scales on lateral line. Caudal fin is forked; pectoral length is equal to head length. Body color silvery, sometimes with a leaden band along upper portion of each side.

Found in the middle and lower reaches of rivers and ponds
