Aulophorus tonkinensis consists of small, pale white, and transparent worms. The prostomium is short and rounded, with a swollen pharyngeal region and no eyes. The body with 23-29 segments followed by undifferentiated posterior segments and a branchial organ. Dorsal setae start at segment VI, with each bundle containing 1 hair and 1 needle, except the last segment which may have 2 needles. Hairs are bayonet-shaped and smooth. Needles are palmate, slightly curved, with a distal nodulus and bifid with long teeth.
The posterior body is cylindrical, ending in a funnel-like branchial fossa with 2 palps longer than the gills. There are two pairs of cylindrical gills: the dorsal pair is longer and parallel, while the ventral pair is shorter and slightly diverging.
