Description:
These organisms are single-celled and cylindrical, capable of free swimming. They range from 10 to 75 µm in length and feature two flagella emerging from their bodies, lacking an eyespot. The anterior end is slightly narrowed, while the posterior end is rounded. Similar to Euglena, they are colorless osmotrophs and undergo metaboly (shape alternation). These organisms do not exhibit sexual reproduction and reproduce exclusively through fission.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Mostly found in organotrophic freshwater waterbodies.
