Description:
It is a perennial herb with a sprawling, hollow, and grooved stem that roots at the nodes and eventually becomes erect and branched, forming dense clusters. The leaves have petioles and are arranged opposite each other; they are oblong or linear-oblong, lanceolate, with a narrowed base and a pointed or blunt tip, and are smooth. The inflorescence consists of a single spherical head at the end of the stem or seemingly in the axils of the leaves, with white, stalked flowers. The flowers are papery and ball-shaped, with oblong tepals that are smooth and either pointed or somewhat blunt-tipped.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It thrives in stagnant or slowly moving shallow water bodies, pools, ditches, and wet soil. This plant is commonly found throughout Bangladesh.
