Description:
The female of this species is broadly oval, with rounded corners on the back of its valves and marked with 12 longitudinal lines without pits. Its head shield has a rounded posterior margin and three main connected pores. The antennae bear a specific set of setae, and spines are present on various segments. The labral plate has a convex anterior margin, and the antennules do not reach the tip of the rostrum. The ocellus is nearly as large as the eye. The postabdomen is wide with a rounded distal margin, featuring 7-9 anal spines, sometimes grouped. The anal margin is slightly concave with a lateral row of setae, and the claw has a row of setae covering three-fourths of its concave margin. The length of the female ranges from 0.42 to 0.50 mm. The male of the species has rounded posteroventral corners of valves and slightly shorter antennules ending before the apex of the rostrum. Its postabdomen is wide, tapering slightly towards the end, and the vas deferens opening is located ventrally at some distance from the claws. The male’s length ranges from 0.42 to 0.48 mm. Regarding reproduction, this species utilizes parthenogenesis, with the parthenogenetic female progressing through several adult stages and producing batches of eggs. These eggs are retained within the mother’s brood pouch for incubation, where embryonic development occurs until the young are released as juveniles.
