Description:
It has elongated and deeply compressed body. Mouth is sub-inferior and upperjaw slightly longer than that of lower jaw. Upper region of head is slightly concave. Barbels 4 pairs. Dorsal and pelvic fins absent. Adipose dorsal minute. Pectoral spine slender. Caudal fin forked and lower lobe slightly longer than that of upper lobe. Coloration: Silvery in colour. Upper surface of head faint to black. A large black spot present in the upper edge of dorsal and anal base yellowish.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Inhabits surface to mid-waters. Occurs in shoals in rivers and connected waters.
