Aeshna cyanea, a dragonfly species, can attain a body length of approximately 70 millimeters, accompanied by a wingspan reaching up to 110 millimeters. This dragonfly is notably large and displays vibrant colors, characterized by an elongated body. The thorax is brown and features two wide green longitudinal stripes before the humeral region. A distinctive black T-shaped spot is present on the forehead. The wings are transparent with a dark pterostigma, and the leading edge of the wings is dark. Male dragonflies exhibit a dark abdomen adorned with bright apple green markings, except for the final segments (S8-10), where the markings take on a pale blue hue and are interconnected. In contrast, females possess a brownish abdomen with vivid green markings. The eyes of males exhibit a gradient, transitioning from green at the bottom to blue or greenish-blue at the top, while females have eyes that are yellowish-green or brownish in color.
