The coenobium of this organism consists of 4, 8, or occasionally 16 cells, each characterized by a much greater length than width. The cells exhibit various shapes such as cylindrical, spindle-shaped, conical, or elongated with rounded ends, typically straight or gently curved, and radiating from a central point. Chloroplasts are positioned along the cell walls (parietal) and often contain an invisible pyrenoid. Both cell ends and usually the base are transparent (hyaline). Morphologically, the cells range in length from 9 to 36 µm and in width from 1.5 to 6 µm, reflecting their slender and elongated form.
