Description:
Cornudiscoides proximus is small to moderate in size. It has two pairs of glandular cephalic lobes and two pairs of eyespots. The haptor is bilobed. Its attachment structures include 7 pairs of larval-type hooks, two pairs of anchors of different shapes and sizes, a non-paired dorsal connective bar, a paired ventral bar, and patches near the root of the dorsal anchors.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It is an obligate parasite of freshwater catfish,like tengra (Mystus vittatus). It attacks the gill filaments of the host. It is commonly found in freshwater fish in Bangladesh.
