Description:
It has a stout body. The head organ is not distinctly divided into lobes. It possesses two pairs of eyespots, with the posterior pair being larger than the anterior pair. The pharynx is oval, and the intestine bifurcates, with the crura merging posteriorly. The haptor is forceps-like and deeply bifurcated, occupying nearly one-third of the total body length. The armature of anchors includes a pair of large dorsal anchors, a median dorsal bar, a pair of small ventral anchors, a pair of ventro-lateral bars, and six pairs of hooklets.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It is an ecto-parasite that lives on freshwater fish, such as Mystus vittatus. The parasite develops on the gill filaments of its host.It is widely distributed in Bangladesh.
