Description:
The Eurasian Wigeon (Mareca penelope) is recognizable by its buff crown, reddish-brown head, pink breast, and gray body. In flight, it displays a white patch on the upper wings and a white belly. Its upperparts are grayish with white speckles and a dark green speculum. The primary feathers are dark brown to black with white edges and a black rear end, and the tail is pointed during flight. The female has a dull light brown plumage, while the eclipse male resembles the female but has a more rufous head and breast and a white forewing.
