Description:
The Common Redshank measures 27–29 cm in length, has a wingspan of 48–55 cm, and weighs about 120 g. It is a somewhat stocky wader with long, orange-red legs and a straight, medium-length bill with a reddish base. Its plumage features a striking white rump and a V-shaped pattern on the back, along with a broad white trailing edge on the inner wing in flight. While flying, the feet extend beyond the tip of the tail.

rocky, muddy and sandy shorelines, saltmarshes and open mudflats, salt lakes, freshwater lagoons
