Description:
The fish has an elongated, sub-cylindrical body and a small, oval-shaped head. Its mouth is small with thick, fleshy lips, and it has four pairs of barbels. The caudal fin is forked, with the upper lobe often extending into a long filamentous projection. The pectoral fins are horizontally placed. Its body color is deep brown with a gray back and dirty white underside. The barbels display dark and white rings, while the fins are yellowish with light bands, and the outer rays of the caudal fin have a whitish border.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Occurs in flowing streams with sandy bottom and overhanging grasses and emergent vegetations.
