Description:
Fin formula: D 2/8; P₁ 10; P2 7; A 2/5. Body is compressed and slender. Dorsal profile is greatly arched. Ventral profile concave. It has compressed head with small mouth. Lower lip is not notched at the middle. Eyes large, situated at the middle of the head touching the dorsal surface. There are 3 pairs of barbels such as 2 rostral and 1 maxillary pairs. Dorsal origin slightly nearer to the snout tip than the caudal base. Pelvic fins originate a little behind the dorsal. Dorsal goes above the anterior base of the anal. Caudal fin is forked. Body color: brownish above, yellowish below; 10-12 very narrow vertical white bands on the body. Base of the caudal is black in color.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Inhabits in clear water, swift flowing streams with bottoms of rocks and boulders.
