Description:
Fin formula: D1. I/7; D. 0; P. I/11-13; V. 6; A. 40-46 (4/35-44); C. 17. It has a long and flattened body from the sides (elongated and deeply compressed). Its mouth is located at the tip of its snout (terminal). The front part of its head (snout) is wide and rounded. There are two pairs of barbels. The single stiff spine in its dorsal fin is weaker than the spine in its pectoral fin. Both spines have small notches along their back edges near the tail (finely serrated posteriorly).
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Inhabit rivers. Adults ascend from estuaries into large rivers for breeding during monsoons.
