Description:
Body elongated and compressed with small mouth. It has no barbels. Lateral line is complete and descends very gradually with 21-34 scales. Body color olive on back and silvery flanks and belly. A narrow dark spot above anal fin. Fin formula: D. 9 (2/7); P. 15; V. 9; A. 7 (2/5); C. 19.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Abundant all over Bangladesh in ditches, ponds, canals, haors, streams, rivers and inundated fields.
