Description:
Fin formula : D. 11(3/8); P. 13; V. 9; A. 7(2/5); C. 19. It has moderately compressed body with elevated and more convex dorsal profile than that of abdomen. Mouth is small and terminal having slightly longer upper jaw. Barbels absent. Dorsal originates nearer to snout that to caudal base. Pectoral as long as head excluding snout. Pelvic fins originate below origin of dorsal. Body reddish in color. A black band along top of dorsal, another across its middle. Dark bases on scales.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Inhabits in ditches, ponds, streams and canals.
