Description:
The body is deep and laterally compressed. It has a moderate mouth without barbels, and the upper jaw is slightly longer. The dorsal fin originates closer to the snout tip, with its last unbranched ray being osseous, moderately strong, and serrated. The pectoral fin is as long as the head, excluding the snout. The lateral line is incomplete, and the scales are medium-sized. The body is silvery with a shining olive-green back, and all scales have dark bases. The fins are reddish with rows of black marks, and a band of black marks runs along the middle of the dorsal rays.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Found in rivers, streams, pools, beels and ponds throughout Bangladesh.
