Description:
Dorsal soft rays 17-19 in total; Anal soft rays: 8. It has a large round blotch on the caudal peduncle. No black mid-lateral stripe; sometimes with a spot above a pectoral fin. It has elongated and laterally compressed body. Dorsal profile is more convex than the abdomen. It has two pairs of barbels; one on the upper jaw (maxillary) and another near the nose (rostral).
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Adults occur in all type of habitats, but usually associated with large streams with slow current and muddy to sandy substrate.
