Description:
Fin formula: D ii 7-8; A ii-iii 19-23; P i 8-11; V i 5-6; Body is elongated, deep as well as compressed. It has slightly oblique mouth. Lateral line is curved downwards with 51-56 scales on lateral line. Pelvic fins with an elongated first ray which extending to the middle or even to the end of the anal. Color of body is translucent (brilliant silver). Light olive on back and whitish below. A greenish longitudinal band from level of dorsal fin. Fins are yellowish in color.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Found in small streams, ponds, ditches, beels and inundated fields.
