Description:
It has a deep body with noticeably large scales. Its mouth is large and curves upwards, with a lower jaw. The fins on its sides (pectoral fins) are long and reach all the way back to the smaller pelvic fins located further down on its belly. The fin on its back (dorsal fin) has 17 soft rays, while the fin on its underside (anal fin) has 7 to 8 soft rays and lacks any spines.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Adults occur in rivers, lakes and culture ponds.
