Description:
Fin formula: D ii 7; A iii 10-11; P i 12; V i 8. It has a thin, elongated body with a mouth that’s not too big or too small. It has two pairs of barbels; one near the nose (rostral) and another near the upper jaw (maxillary). Body is covered in scales with lots of ridges and there are between 43 and 46 scales in total. It has a unique, well-developed bump in front of its pectoral fins. This fish is decorated with a vertical blue stripe and its fins are pinkish, while its back is a dark olive green.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Occurs in large hilly streams and shallow clear rivers along foot of hills.
