Description:
The shell of this species is conical and solid, exhibiting a yellowish-white color, with 4.5–5 regularly increasing convex whorls. The umbilicus is wide, and the aperture is oval with a slightly reinforced lip at the base. The shell’s dimensions include a height of 9–10.5 mm and a width of 6 mm. In terms of the animal’s characteristics, it has a light grey snout with whitish tentacles. Regarding penile morphology, the penis is bicolored, featuring a white penial appendix located near the central part of the penis, and a long, robust flagellum. A distinctive feature that sets this species apart from all other Bithynia species is the wide umbilicus and the presence of a lip at the base of the aperture.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Found in stagnant freshwater like ponds, lakes, pools ditches or sluggish streams. Abundant in Brahman baria, Comilla, Habiganj district.
