Dibothriocephalus latus is an exceptionally long tapeworm. Adults display a yellowish-grey coloration with dark, central markings due to the uterus and eggs. The scolex lacks hooks and is characterized by two muscular longitudinal grooves known as bothria, which serve as organs of attachment. The neck of the tapeworm is several times longer than the scolex itself.
