Description:
Dactylogyrus lamellatus is small and has an elongated body. It has two pairs of eyespots, with the posterior pair larger than the anterior pair. The anchor has well-developed roots, with a stout, small radial point and a patch at the end of the inner root. The marginal hook has a hand loop, a heel, and a point. The copulatory organ originates from the base and is somewhat coiled.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It is an obligate parasite of grass carp, reaching sexual maturity within the fish’s gill filaments. It is commonly found in freshwater fishes of Bangladesh.
