Description:
The rostrum of this shrimp is exceptionally long, resembling a “nose” or “rhino horn.” In a healthy specimen, the shrimp is completely transparent, displaying no body coloration. When afflicted with illness, the shrimp undergoes a noticeable change, appearing milky, and ceases the development of eggs, ultimately leading to its demise. The shrimp’s life cycle involves larvae progressing through several planktonic stages before transforming into post-larvae, resembling miniature shrimp, and adopting a benthic lifestyle. This transformation process requires a transition from brackish water to full-strength saltwater. The maximum total length of this shrimp species is approximately 37 mm.
