Description:
Unbranched strands consisting of elongated, cylindrical cells are characterized by thick H-shaped cell walls comprising overlapping double cylinders that encase the cell’s contents. These structures house two or more disk-like chloroplasts, which are typically pale green or golden in color and lack pyrenoids. Reproduction primarily occurs through asexual methods like fragmentation, release of zoospores, or formation of aplanospores and resting cysts. Additionally, the genus is capable of undergoing isogamous sexual reproduction.
