Description:
Fin formula: D. 9 (2/7); P1. 15; P2. 9; A. 7. It has moderately compressed and elogated body. Mouth somewhat superior; eyes are large. Lateral line incomplete with 65- 91 scales in lateral series. Caudal fin deeply forked; lobes pointed. Dorsal, anal and caudal fins usually with dark markings; Golden-yellow with a broad silvery lateral band on the body.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Abundent in rivers, canals, beels, ponds and inundated fields throughout Bangladesh.
