Description:
The fish has a small adipose fin and a convex head, which is blunt and steep, though it may vary with some individuals being very blunt-headed and having little to no concavity above the profile of the eyes. The lower jaw is very muscular and powerful. The eyes are large, positioned at the front of the head, and have a diagonal dark line. The entire upper body is adorned with beautiful shiny silvery spots. The tail is bluish with a vertical white band in the middle, and it is large and powerful, enabling the fish to swim very fast for short distances.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Common in creeks and interconnected ponds.
