Description:
The thalli of this microalga were flat and consisted of branching filaments radiating from a central disk. Vegetative cells contained a pyrenoid surrounded by starch plates and crossed by one or two convoluted cytoplasmic channels. The cells had distinct cell walls but lacked plasmodesmata.
